How To Apply
Case I: If the birth is already registered
The applicant has to apply in Form 1A by attaching the following documents
- Adoption Order of a District Magistrate (DM) in case the adoption done through Institutional/Agency under Adoption Regulations/Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. OR
- Registered Adoption Deed issued by the concerned Civil Registrar – cum – Sub Registrar is enough in case of non-institutional adoption done under Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act (HAMA). OR
- Court Order.
Process
On verification of documents, if the birth is registered in this Council then the application is processed in the Registration of Births and Deaths Section and after approval of Registrar/Chief Officer, correction/changes are done in favor of adoptive parents, child and address in the birth certificate.
If the birth is registered in other Registration unit, the application along with the Adoption Order/Deed forwarded to the concerned Registrar where the original birth is registered and birth certificate is obtained from the concerned Registrar and issued to the adoptive parents.
Case II: If the birth is not registered earlier.
The applicant has to apply in Form 1A by attaching the following documents if the Adoption Agency is located in the Jurisdiction of Margao Municipal Council.
- Order of a District Magistrate in case of Adoption through Institution/Agency and Registered Adoption Deed issued by the concerned Civil Registrar – cum – Sub Registrar in case of Non-Institutional Adoption.
Note : –
- The place/location of the Agency shall be treated as place of birth.
- Place where adoption took place shall be treated as place of birth, in case of non-institutional Adoption.
- District Magistrate Order for delayed registration u/s 13(3) is required in cases where adoption is made through Adoption Deed.
